Inflation in Brazil seems always to be a threat. Recently released data shows Brazil inflation surged in March to the highest level for that month in 11 years. This has left the central bank in a quandary and endangered President Dilma Rousseff’s chances of re-election. It was a similar situation 20 years ago when President Fernando Henrique Cardoso faced an inflation threat. Back then he was elected due to the initial success his economic plan which included the introduction of the real. This helped bring inflation down dramatically.
