In 1994 treasurers were encouraged to increase efforts for funding ahead of global growth. Still likely a good approach in today’s banking world.
Twenty years ago, International Treasurer wrote that treasurers should be prepared for growth after the International Monetary Fund released a rosy outlook for the 1995. In 2014, the IMF again also has some optimistic forecasts in its latest outlook, unfortunately, there are a fair amount of areas where growth is a long way off. In 1994 ahead of the growth, treasurers were encouraged to be prepared for “Strategic investment projects in unfamiliar territory” and “Working harder for funding and back-up funding.” While the places might be more familiar nowadays, a changing banking landscape might still make for treasuries “working harder” for funds.
